FURMAN MEN'S SOCCER RANKED 12TH IN NATIONAL POLL

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman men's soccer is ranked as high as 12th in the latest national soccer polls as the Paladins prepare for the 2000 Southern Conference Tournament in Charleston, S.C. this weekend.

The Paladins are ranked 12th in the NCAA Division I media poll, 17th in the Soccer America poll, and 21st in the Soccer Times coaches poll.

Furman lost 2-0 to Clemson and defeated VMI 7-1 to close the regular season last week. Furman is the No. 1 seed in this weekend's conference tournament and will play the winner of tonight's The Citadel-Wofford match on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. For the second straight season, Furman won the Southern Conference regular season championship with a perfect 8-0 league mark. Furman has won the SoCon title ten of the last 11 years.

Furman is currently fourth in the nation in points per match and place 12th in team goals against average. All American forward John Barry Nusum is 20th in the nation in points per match.
