CARL JUNOT PARTICIPATING IN UMBRO SELECT COLLEGE ALL-STAR CLASSIC

FT. LAUDERDALE, FLA. -- Furman senior midfielder Carl Junot will get a chance to showcase his skills this weekend in the 2001 Umbro Select All Star Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., prior to Monday's MLS SuperDraft.

Junot is one of 36 men's college seniors selected to the participate in this weekend's activities. Junot, a first team All-Southern Conference choice is one of seven midfielders on the West squad. The East-West menšs game will be played Sunday at 4 p.m. Other events during the weekend include a banquet for the players, a Major League Soccer player combine, along with the Major League Soccer player draft on Monday.

"I think Carl will do a great job at the All-Star Classic this weekend," said Furman head coach Doug Allison. "Carl has the ability to play with the best players in the nation."

A team captain in 2000, Junot is a two-time All-Southern Conference pick and finished his career with 17 goals and 17 assists. Junot was a key member of Furmanšs 1999 squad that advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament and finished the season ranked third nationally.

The Major League Soccer SuperDraft will be held Monday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. Last year, two Paladins were drafted as Daniel Alvarez was a fourth round selection of the NY/NJ MetroStars and Seth Marks was a fifth round choice of the Dallas Burn.
