NINTH RANKED PALADINS TOP PHOENIX

ELON COLLEGE, N.C. -- The ninth ranked Furman menšs soccer team downed Elon 2-0 Wednesday afternoon at Elon.

After 80 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Paladins finally got on the board with a goal by freshman Sergei Raad off an assist from Matt Goldsmith. John Barry Nusum then scored his first goal of the 2000 season three minutes later as he connected off a Sergei Raad assist.

Furman improves to 2-0 on the season and will host Belmont Saturday at 4 p.m. before a key Southern Conference match next Tuesday at home against UNC Greensboro. The Paladins are ranked 9th in the latest Soccer America national poll.
