Freshman Sergei Raad put the Paladins on top early as he knocked in a Carl Junot cross 12 minutes into the match. Furman extended its lead to 2-0 later in the first half as Moffat Oduor redirected a McNeil Cronin corner kick in at the 35:12 mark. The Paladins held the 2-0 lead until halftime.
Furman put the match away early in the second half as Carl Junot ripped a ball from 25 yards out past Cougar goalkeeper Wes Martino at the 52:36 mark. Sergei Raad connected on a penalty kick that was set up as he was fouled in the box just four minutes later to make the score 4-0.
Freshman Patrick Tanner would add another goal to increase the count to 5-0 before both teams swapped goalkeepers. Charlestonšs Steffen Schollaert and Furmanšs Anthony Esquivel each added late goals to make the final 6-1.
"This was a solid all-around performance by a lot of different players," said Furman head coach Doug Allison. "The College of Charleston is always one of our toughest opponents and we didnšt let them get into the match today. This was one of our better performances this season."
