FURMAN SOCCER TO SCRIMMAGE PRESBYTERIAN
GREENVILLE -- The Furman men's soccer team will scrimmage Presbyterian College Wednesday at Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium on the campus of Furman University. The match is set for 6 p.m. and admission is free.
The Paladins, who have been in preseason training mode for almost two weeks will have one addition tune-up, an August 28 scrimmage at Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C. Furman opens its 1999 season, September 3, against South Florida in Birmingham, Ala.
The Paladins, coming off a 16-4-2 season in which they were ranked in the nation's top 20 for most of the season, return nine starters and six All-Southern Conference picks. Sophomore Matt Goldsmith, the 1998 SoCon Freshman-of-the-Year, was selected as a preseason second team All-American by College Soccer Weekly last week. | ||
