FURMAN MEN'S SOCCER RANKED 8TH IN NATION; ACHIEVES HIGHEST-EVER NATIONAL MARK
GREENVILLE -- The Furman University men's soccer team has achieved it's highest-ever national ranking in both the Soccer America and NSCAA national polls as the Paladins are ranked eighth in the Soccer America poll and 10th in the NSCAA national poll.
This ranking tops Furman's tenth place showing in the October 12, 1996 Soccer America poll, which had been Furman's only top ten ranking until this week.
In addition, Furman places 12th in the lastest Soccer Times national poll.
Furman defeated Appalachian State 1-0 and UNC Greensboro 3-1 on the road last week. The Furman-UNC Greensboro matchup was a battle of the Southern Conference favorites and a rematch of the last two Southern Confernece championship matches.
The Paladins, 11-1-1, are ranked third in the South Region. Furman will play two more key Southern Conference matches this week as attempt to claim their 14th regular season championship. The Paladins travel to Davidson on Friday and will host VMI next Sunday at 2 p.m. | ||||||||
