FURMAN MEN'S SOCCER RANKED 5TH IN FINAL NSCAA POLL

GREENVILLE -- The Furman University men's soccer team concluded the season ranked fifth in the nation in the final postseason NSCAA listing released this week. Furman finished third in the Soccer America poll, whose final ranking is the final regular season poll.

Furman finished the season with a school record 21-2-1 mark and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. The Paladins are the highest ranked non-Final Four team in the poll.

Furman's 1999 squad was the most successful soccer team in Furman history and advanced farther than any Furman athletic team has ever advanced in straight Division I tournament competition. Furman also finished the season in the nation's top twenty in scoring (14th), team defense (13th), and winning percentage (2nd). Furman finished with a perfect 8-0 Southern Conference mark and won the Southern Conference tournament championship.
