Furman Rallies to defeat College of Charleston
MT. PLEASANT, SC It was the duo of Furmanıs Nicole Malseed and Sarah Tollick that enabled Furman to come from behind and defeat the College of Charleston womenıs soccer team 3-2 in double overtime today in Mt. Pleasant in the final game of the Farewell to Remleyıs Point Tournament.
The Cougars went on the board first after Alison Davies netted the assist from Sarah Keen at the 43:46 mark. The score would remain that way going into the second half.
The College of Charleston started the second half strong, scoring fairly early at 52:06 when Sarah Keen took the wide open shot from Alison Daviesı pass as the Cougars took the 2-0 lead. Things turned around for Furman As Kaye Brownlee put points on the board at 63:49 when she had the unassisted goal. It was all Furman after that. Just five minutes later (68:53) the Paladins would tie it up when Sarah Tollick passed to Nicole Malseed who got the ball in the net.
After a scoreless first overtime the Cougars would let the game winner slip by them at 106:59 as the Nicole Malseed took the game-winning shot from the assist again from Sarah Tollick.
With the win Furman goes to 9-1 and 3-0 in the Southern Conference, while the Cougars go to 5-5-1 and 1-2 in the conference. The next game for the College of Charleston will be Oct. 1, when the Cougars host Chattanooga at Remleyıs Point at 7:00 pm.
