FURMAN SOCCER DOWNS APPALACHIAN STATE 1-0;

DANIEL ALVAREZ SETS CAREER ASSIST RECORD

BOONE, NC-- The 11th ranked Furman men's soccer team defeated Appalachain State 1-0 Tuesday in Boone, N.C.

Midfielder Stephen Rodriguez scored the Paladins lone goal in the first half off a Daniel Alvarez throw-in. Alvarez recorded his 34th career assist on the play, setting the Furman all-time career assist mark. The previous record of 33 was held by Jeff Jones, who set the mark in 1987.

Furman improves to 10-1-1 on the season, 4-0 in the Southern Conference.
