Paladins Hold Nation's Longest Unbeaten Streak; Furman Set To Face 18th Ranked 49ers

GREENVILLE, SC -- The 14th ranked Furman men's soccer team, off to its best start in school history, currently holds the nation's longest unbeaten streak at eight matches.

Furman is currently 7-0-1 on the season and will host 18th ranked UNC Charlotte tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Eugene Stone Stadium. The 49ers are coached by former Paladin coach John Tart '81 who served 13 years at the school from 1982-1994.

Furman's goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale has recorded five shutouts this season and is 17th in the country with a 0.60 goals against average. Furman is ranked 11th in the nation in team defense, allowing only five goals in eight matches this season.

Following Furman's match with UNC Charlotte, the Paladins will travel to Columbia to face the fifth-ranked Gamecocks Sunday at 2 p.m.

In other polls, Furman is ranked 23rd in the NSCAA/Umbro national poll, 10th in the Soccer News poll, 16th in the ESPN.com/Soccer Times poll, and 5th in the NSCAA/Umbro South Region poll.
