GREENVILLE, SC -- The 16th ranked Furman men's soccer team will open the 1998 season Tuesday night at Eugene Stone Stadium against UAB at 7 p.m.
The Paladins, who defeated Presbyterian 6-0 in a scrimmage last week, begin its quest to repeat as Southern Conference tournament champions and regain the title of Southern Conference regular season champions, a title that alluded them for the first time in eight years in 1997.
The Paladins return seven starters off last season's squad, including all-south region selections Ronnie Pascale and Daniel Alvarez. Furman begins the season ranked 16th in the nation by Soccer America and have been picked to finish second in the Southern Conference behind 20th ranked UNC Greensboro.
