Furman Places Three On All-South Region Teams

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman defender Seth Marks earned NSCAA First Team All-South Region honors on Wednesday, while goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale and midfielder Daniel Alvarez earned second team honors.

Marks, a junior from Raleigh, N.C., made the transition from midfielder to sweeper last season and anchored Furman's 12th ranked team defense that allowed only 0.71 goals a match. Marks started 21 matches and recorded one goal and five assists on the season. This is the first all-region honor of his career, and thus earns him recognition as one of the top three defenders in the South Region. Marks was earlier selected as a First Team All-Southern Conference member and was voted co-MVP of the Paladins, who finished 16-4-2 and won the Southern Conference Regular Season Title.

Pascale, a senior from North Salem, N.Y., earns his second straight Second Team All-South Region award. He played every minute of every match and recorded a goals against average of 0.71. Pascale was earlier selected as a First Team All-Southern Conference member.

Alvarez, a junior from Fayetteville, N.C., earns his second all-region award as he was a Third Team All-South Region selection a year ago. He recorded three goals and 11 assists on the season, moving him into 4th place on Furman's all-time assist record. Alvarez was earlier selected as a First Team All-Southern Conference member.

Furman has now placed multiple members on the NSCAA All-Region teams for three years in a row. Furman has placed ten members on the all-region teams during Doug Allison's four year stint as head coach.

Marks, Pascale, and Alvarez were joined by Southern Conference players Siggi Eyjolfsson, UNCG (First Team), Matt Farris, UNCG (Second Team), and Jason Duncan, Charleston (Third Team).
