DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Furman men's soccer team saw six of its players recognized as members of the two All-Southern Conference teams on Friday at the Southern Conference Banquet in Davidson, N.C. Furman freshman Matt Goldsmith was named the Southern Conference's freshman-of-the-year.
Goldsmith anchored the Paladins nationally ranked defense this season and saw action in a number of other positions when needed. Goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale was named first team All-Southern Conference for the fourth consecutive year. It was the third consecutive time that he was named to the first team. Joining Goldsmith and Pascale on first team were juniors Daniel Alvarez and Seth Marks.
Freshman John Barry Nusum and Stephen Rodriguez earned second team honors. UNC Greensboro placed three players on the first team and two on the second team.
