GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman men's soccer standout Seth Marks was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 1998 Scholar Athlete All-American Second Team on Monday. Marks was also recognized as a member of the NSCAA Scholar Athlete South Region First Team, while teammate Graham Seagraves was a second team regional selection.
Marks, a junior from Raleigh, N.C., has a 3.60 Grade Point Average as a business administration major. Marks made the transition from midfielder to sweeper last season and anchored Furman's 12th ranked team defense that allowed only 0.71 goals a match. Marks started 21 matches and recorded one goal and five assists on the season. Marks was earlier selected as a First Team NSCAA All South Region member, a First Team All-Southern Conference member and was voted co-MVP of the Paladins, who finished 16-4-2 and won the Southern Conference Regular Season Title.
Seagraves, a junior from Stone Mountain, Ga., has a 3.33 GPA as a business administration major. Seagraves started all 22 matches at defender, while scoring four goals and recording two assists on the season.
