Furman Men's Soccer Signs Andy Kidd

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman men's soccer coach Doug Allison announced on Tuesday that Andy Kidd, of Jacksonville, Fla., has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer at Furman. Kidd is a product of Episcopal High School in Jacksonville, Fla., where he was named AAA Player-of-the-Year in Florida. He is also a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars club team and is a member of the Florida Olympic Development Program (ODP) State Team.

He becomes the eighth member of the 1999 Furman freshman class, joining Will Chaple of Conyers, Ga., Anthony Esquivel, of San Antonio, Texas, John Robert Foster, of Anderson, S.C., Matt Foxhall, of San Antonio, Texas, Clint Hill of Tulsa, Okla., Jody Keeling of New Port Richey, Fla., and John Michael Waite of Tulsa, Okla.

"I am really excited about this class," said Allison. "This class will fill some definite needs for us and will greatly improve our overall talent level."

Furman won the 1998 Southern Conference Regular Season title and finished the season with a 16-4-2 record after being ranked in the nation's top 20 for most of the season.
