GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman senior Todd Jackson scored the game-winning goal with 6:59 to play in the match to propel the Paladins to a 1-0 victory over Wofford Wednesday at Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium.
Wofford played the Paladins tough throughout the match, but a late Paladin surge was too much for the Terriers. Furman outshot Wofford 19-4, including 11 shots in game's final 25 minutes. Furman was unable to capitalize on numerous scoring opportunities in both the first and second halves. Terrier goalkeeper Zach Atkinson recorded eight saves to keep Wofford alive.
The game-winner was set up as Pete Santora knocked a ball to Daniel Alvarez who crossed to Jackson for the goal. The shot was Jackson's sixth of the day.
"This was a good conference win," Furman head coach Doug Allison said. "A lot of credit goes to Wofford. They truly played great today."
