Furman Men's Soccer Defeats Vanderbilt, Falls to Creighton

CHARLESTON, SC -- The 20th Ranked Furman men's soccer team claimed one out of two in the College of Charleston tournament this Saturday and Sunday.

The Paladins dropped a close 1-0 decision to 14th ranked Creighton Saturday. Johnny Torres scored the game-winner for the Blue Jays at the 66:48 mark in the second half.

Furman rebounded Saturday to down Vanderbilt 3-0. Senior defender Pete Santora scored two goals, while sophomore Any Foy added one. Santora netted the first goal on a header off a direct kick and scored the second on a penalty shot. Santora is now the Paladins leading scorer with six goals and two assists on the season.

The Paladins are now 8-3 on the season and 3-1 in the Southern Conference. Furman will host conference rival The Citadel Wednesday at 7:00.
