GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's soccer defeated Erskine 7-0 Wednesay at Eugene E. Stone III Soccer Stadium while freshman Carl Junot recorded his first career hat trick.
Stephen Rodriguez opened the scoring for the Paladins with a goal in the game's first two minutes. Carl Junot then added his first of three goals at the 29:13 mark in the first half. Andy White scored late in the first half off assists from Ryan Higginbotham and Daniel Alvarez.
The Paladins stayed consistent as they scored four goals in the second half. Andy Foy recorded his first goal of the season, as did freshman Christian Balldin, to go along with Junot's additional scores.
For the game, the Paladins outshot Erskine 34-2. Daniel Alvarez and Ryan Higginbotham each recorded two assists in the match.
"It was a nice, solid perforamnce," Furman head coach Doug Allison said. "It is great to win at home in front of such a great crowd. Carl Junot played spectacular. His first goal was one of the best goals I have seen in a long time."
