Two Furman Freshman Ranked In South Region

Greenville, S.C. -- Two Paladin freshman are ranked in the latest South Region soccer rankings. Carl Junot, with four goals on the season, is ranked second in goals scored and sixth in points. Goalkeeper Scott Blount is ranked seventh in the region with a 0.80 Goals Against Average.

Junot, from San Antonio, Texas registered his first career hat trick in Furman s 7-0 victory over Erskine last Wednesday. Junot also scored in Furman s 2-0 opening win over South Alabama in the Umbro Kicoff Classic. He is tied with five others for second in goals scored and trails only South Florida s Jeff Cunningham, with seven goals on the season.

Blount, from Brentwood, Tenn. has started all three Paladin matches. While recording shutouts in his first two collegiate starts, Blount has allwoed two goals on the season for a 0.80 Goals Against Average.

Furman currently owns a 3-0 record with victories over South Alabama, Erskine, and College of Charleston. The Paladins travel to Charlotte Tuesday to face 1996 Final Four participant UNC Charlotte.
