GREENVILLE, SC -- Paladin midfielder Daniel Alvarez was one of 11 players selected to the Soccer America Team-of-the-Week Wednesday.
Alvarez, a senior from Fayetteville, N.C., scored the game-winning goals in FurmanÕs wins over The Citadel and North Carolina last week. His goal against the Tar Heels came with 1:14 to play and vaulted Furman to a 2-1 victory. Alvarez also had an assist in each contest.
Alvarez, a first time selection to the Team-of-the-Week, has started all 13 matches for the 19th ranked Paladins this season and has three goals and six assists on the year. All three of his goals have been game-winners and his six assists lead the team.
"I am excited for Daniel," Furman head coach Doug Allison said. "It is a thrill for one of our players to be recognized like this. Daniel is playing the best soccer I have ever seen him play and he has been a huge part of our recent success."
