Release: Upon Receipt FURMAN'S SANTORA NAMED TO NSCAA/UMBRO ALL-AMERICA SQUAD
Santora, a junior defender from Dunwoody, Ga., started 19 of the Paladins' 21 matches and finished the season with two goals and two assists. Santora was named to the All-Southern Conference team for the third consecutive year and to the All-South Region team for the second straight year.
Santora is Furman's second men's soccer All-American and the only Paladin soccer player to be named to the first team. Osian Roberts was named to the second team in 1986 and 1988.
"This is a great honor for Pete," said head coach Doug Allison. "It is nice to be recognized by the coaches at the other schools. Being chosen as an All-American is a testament to Pete's hard work, and it will be nice to have him back next season as a leader and co-captain."
Furman finished the season with a 16-4-1 record (6-0 SoCon) and clinched a seventh straight conference championship.
