LADY PALADIN GOLF 21ST AT FALL PREVIEW

SUN RIVER, Oregon -- Furman's 15th-ranked women's golf squad is in 21st place at the prestigious NCAA Fall Preview after firing a 326, the Lady Paladins' worst score since the final round of the 1996 Fall Preview at Ohio State's Scarlet Golf Course, where the team finished eighth.

Not surprisingly, Furman was led by reigning Southern Conference Freshman of the Year and NCAA East Regional co-medalist, Jennifer Perri, who fired 77 and is tied for 33rd individually. Sophomore Tara Schultz (Wethersfield, Conn.) and freshman Brandi Jackson (Belton, S.C.) are tied with seven others in 73rd place after a first-round 82, while junior Dara Broadus (Atlanta, Ga.) is 92nd after shooting 85. Freshman Cimmie Shahan (Spring Grove, Pa.) carded an 86 in her first collegiate round and is tied for 98th overall.

The NCAA Fall Preview is being hosted by Oregon State at the Crosswater Club in Sun River, Ore., site of the 2000 NCAA Championships. The top 21 teams in the nation are in attendance. Duke, the defending National Champions are first after tallying a 294 on Monday, while Southern Cal is second at 296, Arizona is third at 299, and Arizona State is fourth at 300.
