LADY PALADIN GOLF INVITATIONAL TO FEATURE EIGHT RANKED TEAMS

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- The 29th Annual Lady Paladin Invitational, slated for Friday through Sunday, October 29-31, at the Furman University Golf Course, will feature eight teams ranked in the College Golf Foundation's MasterCard Poll.

The field of 24 teams will be highlighted by sixth-ranked Georgia, seventh-ranked Texas, No. 11 Auburn, the 15th-ranked Vols of Tennessee, No. 17 South Carolina, the 20th-ranked Horned Frogs of TCU, the No. 21 Lady Paladins of Furman, and the 24th-ranked Gators of Florida.

With past champions like Betsy King, Nancy Lopez, Dottie Pepper, and Donna Andrews, the Lady Paladin Invitational is rich in golf tradition and has long been a proving ground for top collegiate competition. Last year's event was won by Georgia, which went on to finish second in the NCAA Championships in Tulsa.

In addition to the team competition, six individuals ranked in MasterCard's top 25 will vie for medalist honors. These are Georgia's Shauna Estes (8th) and Angela Jerman (22nd), Texas' Randi Meadow (9th) and Kristin Dufour (24th), TCU's Angela Stanford (13th), and Tennessee's Young-A Yang (17th).

Tee times in the Lady Paladin Invitational begin Friday at 8:30 a.m. with College of Charleston, Kentucky, and Winthrop starting on the first hole and Wofford, Appalachian State, and Coastal Carolina beginning on number 10. The host Lady Paladins will tee off the 10th hole at 11:44.

Fans interested in tee times, pairings, and results, should visit the Furman website at www.furman.edu/athletics/golf_womens. A complete list of teams in the field and tee times are already on-line. Results should be posted by 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights, and 5 p.m. on Sunday.
