LADY PALADIN GOLFERS 12TH AT GOLF WORLD

HILTON HEAD, South Carolina -- Furman's Lady Paladin golf team fired a first-round 322 on Friday and is in 12th at the Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate. LSU leads this prestigious event after carding a first-round 290. Top-ranked Duke is second at 291 and Arizona is third at 293.

Furman freshman Cimmie Shahan is 30th after firing 39-37 for a four-over 76 at the 6,257-yard Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Hall. Sophomore Jennifer Perri is 36th at 77, while Tara Schultz is 50th after a first-round 81 and Sarah Johnston is 59th after an 88. Freshman Brandi Jackson had to withdraw on Friday before posting a score.

Round two of the Golf World Collegiate is scheduled for Saturday, with the final round on Sunday. The Golf World event is one of the most prestigious in collegiate golf; teams are chosen each June following the NCAA National Championship.
