FURMAN FINISHES EIGHTH AT LIZ MURPHY

ATHENS, Georgia -- Furman's Lady Paladin golf team fired a final round 309 despite soggy conditions Sunday at the Liz Murphy Intercollegiate to finish tied for eighth among 17 teams. Furman's three-day 929 total equaled that of Texas, but was 54 strokes behind title winning Duke, which won the tournament by 18 strokes over second-place LSU.

Jennifer Perri again paced Furman, finishing tied for ninth with a 224 total after carding a final-round 75. Freshman Cimmie Shahan matched Perri's 75 on Sunday and was 27th overall with a 230 total, while senior Stacey Burnett carded a 78 and was 29th with a 232 sum. Freshman Brandi Jackson carded an 81 and was 69th individually, while sophomore Tara Schultz shot 89 and placed 91st in the standings.

The Lady Paladins will be in action again April 16-19 in the Southern Conference Championship, scheduled for Patriot's Point in Charleston, S.C.
