FURMAN FIRES 304 TO MOVE INTO 11TH AT LIZ MURPHY

ATHENS, Georgia -- Furman's Lady Paladin golf team fired a second round 304 to move from 14th into 11th at the Liz Murphy Invitational at the University of Georgia Golf Course on Saturday with a 620 two-day total. Duke leads the field by 18 strokes with an 11-under total of 573.

Jennifer Perri and senior Stacey Burnett each carded a one-over 74 to pace the Paladin team. Perri recorded birdies on the par three third hole, the par four 11th, and the par three 16th and is 15th individually. Burnett led the team with five birdies on Saturday, including the par three third hole, the par five fifth, and the par-four sixth and is in 35th with a 154 tally. In fact, she birdied four of six holes on the front nine, which Furman played as their final side.

In addition to Perri and Burnett, freshman Cimmie Shahan carded a 76 and is 42nd with a 155 tally, despite a double-bogey on the round's final hole (#9). Freshman Brandi Jackson fired an 80 and is in 72nd (162), while sophomore Tara Schultz was the non-counter with an 82 and is 89th overall with a 170.

The third and final round of the Liz Murphy Invitational will begin Sunday morning with an 8:30 shotgun start.
