FURMAN WOMEN’S GOLF TO COMPETE IN EAST REGIONAL

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- The Furman women’s golf team will play in the NCAA East Regional Championships May 6-8, at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla., it was announced today by the NCAA Golf Committee.

Furman, currently ranked 24th by Golfweek, earned an automatic bid to the NCAAs by virtue of a victory in the Southern Conference Championships. It will be the Lady Paladins’ 12th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance. The top eight teams at the three-round Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, May 19-22, in Auburn, Ala.

“We are in a very tough region, along with Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Florida, Oklahoma State, and Tennessee, just to name a few,” said head coach Mic Potter. “We will definitely have to play some of our best golf of the season, but we have beaten some of these teams already this year and are playing pretty well entering the postseason.”

Furman’s Lady Paladin golf team has made the NCAA Championships 13 times since 1983, but have not earned a team berth since 1999.
