LADY PALADIN HIGHLIGHTED BY SEVEN RANKED TEAMS; DEFENDING INDIVIDUAL CHAMP


GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- The 33rd annual Lady Paladin Golf Invitational is slated for this Friday through Sunday, October 24-26, at the Furman University Golf Course. Seven ranked teams and seven ranked individuals will highlight the annual event which boasts Betsy King, Nancy Lopez, Sherri Turner, and Angela Stanford among its past champions.

The Georgia Lady Bulldogs, currently ranked seventh in the Golfweek/Sagarin Index, are the top-ranked team in the field, but Furman, the defending Lady Paladin champion, is ranked 16th, while Tulsa University is 18th. Other ranked teams in the field include Louisiana State (31st), TCU (36th), Mississippi (41st), and Michigan (49th).

Three of the ranked individuals in this weekendıs field are member of the Georgia team: Whitney Wade is 45th, Lisa tyler is 42nd, and Allison Martin is 19th. Tulsaıs Suzie Fisher is the ninth ranked collegiate player in the country, while Furmanıs Jenny Suh weighs in at 22nd and Lady Paladin Sarah Johnston is 37th. Perhaps the favorite, however, is TCUıs Booke Tull, who is ranked 38th and won last yearıs Lady Paladin Invitational with rounds of 72-70-70.

Competition in the 2003 Lady Paladin Invitational begins Friday at 12:24 p.m., with Furman, TCU, and Mississippi teeing off the first tee and Tulsa, UNC Wilmington, and LSU going off number 10.
