LADY PALADINS MOVE INTO SEVENTH WITH SECOND ROUND 293

ATHENS, Georgia -- Furman’s Lady Paladin golf team rebounded from a first round 310 to shoot 293 on Saturday, rocketing from 14th into seventh at the Liz Murphey Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga.

Senior Sarah Johnston (St. Charles, Ill.) recorded a new career low with a 67 at the 6,014 yard, par 72 University of Georgia Golf Course, and is seventh in the individual standings, four strokes off the lead which is held by Brittany Lang of Duke and Lindsay Knowlton of Ohio State. In addition to Johnston’s 67, freshman Monique Gesualdi (St. Augustine, Fla.) carded a 72 and is tied for 57th at 155, freshman Theresa Paik (Silver Spring, Md.) and sophomore Connor Atkinson (Charleston, S.C.) each shot 77 and are tied for 68th and 73rd, respectively, and freshman Jenny Suh (Fairfax, Va.) fired a 78 and is in 29th in the individual standings with a two-day 151 total.

Entering the third and final round of the competition the Buckeyes of Ohio State hold the lead at 574, with Georgia in second at 580, Duke third at 583, Auburn fourth at 588, and Oklahoma State fifth at 589.
