SUH LEADS FURMAN TO SECOND PLACE FINISH AT COUGAR CLASSIC

CHARLESTON, South Carolina -- Freshman Jenny Suh (Fairfax, Va.) wasted no time in making her mark on the Furman women's golf team, firing 72-76-70 in the season-opening Cougar Classic to lead the Lady Paladins to a second-place team finish, six strokes behind Notre Dame.

Furman carded rounds of 294-300-301 to post an 895 total, their best regular season three-round sum since winning the Lady Paladin Invitational last year. In addition, Suh's three-round 218 ranked her third in the individual standings and left her with a 72.67 season stroke average entering Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship Sept. 26-28.

In addition to Suh's third place finish, sophomore Connor Atkinson (Charleston, S.C.) fired 74-74-76 to finish ninth and earn her second career top 10 showing. Senior Sarah Johnston (St. Charles, Ill.) took 11th with a 225 total (75-73-77), while freshman Monique Gesualdi (St. Augustine, Fla.) placed 21st at 228 (73-77-78). Sophomore Haley Gildea (East Greenwich, R.I.) rounded out the Lady Paladin contingent with rounds of 78-78-80 to place 44th with a 236 tally.

The Lady Paladins have a 10 day break before taking part int he Mason Rudolph Championship at the Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
