Furman Sweeps Golfer of the Week Awards

SPARTANBURG, SC - Furman's Matt Davidson and Sarah Johnston have been selected as the Southern Conference's Men's and Women's Golfers of the Week for March 31.

Davidson fired a three-round 217 (+1) to claim the Furman Intercollegiate title, outlasting teammate Rob Langley on the first hole of a sudden death playoff. Davidson carded a 71 in round one, his lowest round of the tournament. This is the second career victory for the SoCon's number two rated golfer, as he also won the 2001 Carolina First Intercollegiate.

Senior Sarah Johnston carded a two-under 70 at the 6,014-yard, par 72 University of Georgia Golf Course to lead the Lady Paladin charge and finish tied for fourth in the individual standings at 213, six strokes off the winning pace. Johnston fired a career-best 67 in the second round, which also ranks as the lowest score in the SoCon this season.
