LADY PALADINS 14TH AFTER FIRST ROUND 310


ATHENS, Georgia -- Furman’s Lady Paladin golf team is in 14th after carding a 310 in the first round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic Friday at the University of Georgia Golf Course.

Freshman Jenny Suh (Fairfax, Va.) carded a one-over 73 at the 6,014-yard, par 72 course to pace the Lady Paladins and stand tied for 13th in the individual standings, seven strokes out of the lead. Senior Sarah Johnston (St. Charles, Ill.) was second for Furman with a 76 on the day, while freshman Theresa Paik (Silver Spring, Md.) recorded an 80, sophomore Connor Atkinson (Charleston, S.C.) shot 81, and freshman Monique Gesualdi (St. Augustine, Fla.) tallied an 83.

Ohio State leads the tournament after a first round 291, while Georgia is tied with Duke for second at 292, Auburn is fourth at 293, and Michigan State rounds out the top five at 297.

Round two of the Liz Murphey is set for Saturday with the third and final round slated for Sunday.
