LADY PALADIN GOLFERS MOVE INTO 13TH AT LIZ MURPHEY


ATHENS, Georgia -- Furman senior Leigh Turner fired a team-best 72 and Brandi Jackson carded a 74, as the Lady Paladin golf team recorded a second-round 308 Saturday at the Liz Murphey Invitational, to move from 14th into 13th in the 17-team field.

Jackson’s second-consecutive two-over round has her tied for 17th with five other golfers, while Turner improved from 47th to 26th with her even-par round on Saturday. Freshman Connor Atkinson followed up a first-round 80 with an 81, while Tiarna Harman rounded out the Furman counters with her own second round 81. Senior Cimmie Shahan was the non-counter on Saturday after tallying an 85.

Furman is currently at 618 in the team standings, tied with Alabama 30 strokes behind the tournament-leading Gators of Florida and Blue Devils of Duke. The individual race is also tied between Duke’s Elizabeth Janangelo and Ohio State’s Lindsay Knowlton, who are at 141 entering Sunday’s final round.
