LADY PALADINS SEVEN STROKES OFF LEAD AT SOCON CHAMPIONSHIPS

WAYNESVILLE, North Carolina -- The Furman women’s golf team fired a 294 on Monday, 10 strokes better than Sunday’s 304 total, but remain in second place at the Southern Conference Championships with a 598 tally, seven strokes off the lead pace of 591, set by the hosting Catamounts of Western Carolina.

Brandi Jackson carded a three under 69 Monday at the 5,900-yard, par 72 Waynesville Golf and Country Club, and is in second at 143, three strokes off the lead pace of Western Carolina’s Brandy Anderson. Fellow senior Leigh Turner is third at 147 after Monday’s 72, while Connor Atkinsons is eighth after her round two 75. Cimmie Shahan shot a 78 on Monday and Tiarna Harman fired an 85 to total 157 and 166, respectively.

Furman has won the Southern Conference Championships for nine consecutive years, ever since the league’s first women’s golf title was awarded in 1994.
