LADY PALADINS SECOND AT SOCON CHAMPIONSHIPS


WAYNESVILLE, North Carolina -- Furman’s Lady Paladin golf team is in second place, six strokes off the lead, after firing a 304 in round one of the Southern Conference Championships Sunday, in Waynesville, N.C. Four of Furman’s five squad members are in the top 20 entering the second round.

Senior Brandi Jackson carded a two-over 74 at the 5,900-yard, par 72, Waynesville Golf and Country Club and is in third place, two strokes off the lead pace. In addition, Leigh Turner is seventh after shooting a 75, Connor Atkinson is ninth after a 76, and Cimmie Shahan is in 15th after a first-round 79. Tiarna Harman was the Lady Paladin non-counter on Sunday after firing an 81, and is 23rd in the individual standings.

Round two of the Southern Conference Championships begins Monday at 8:56 a.m. The host Catamounts of Western Carolina are in first after a round one 298, while the College of Charleston is third at 305.
