Lady Paladin Golfers Finish Ninth at Mercedes Benz Championships

Knoxville, Tenn. --The Furman Lady Paladin golf team concluded the Mercedes Benz Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., with a final-round 309 Sunday to finish in ninth place. Senior Brandi Jackson finished in a five-way tie for 13th after firing a final-round 78.

Jackson, a native of Belton, S.C., finished the three round event with a 13 over par 229 to lead the Lady Paladins. Freshman Haley Gildea wrapped up her best tournament as a Lady Paladin by shooting 78 on the final day to finish tied for 28th. Sophomore Tiarna Harman posted Furman's best score of the day, a four over par 76, to move into a tie for 32nd.

Auburn claimed the team championship thanks to a weekend low score of 292 in the third and final round. The Tigers finished seven strokes ahead of the Swedish Junior National Team and 12 shots ahead of Florida. North Carolina's Ashley Prange took individual medalist honors by leading wire to wire and recording a two over par 218 for the tournament.

Furman will return to action when it hosts the Lady Paladin Invitational next weekend at the Furman University Golf Course.
