Lady Paladin Golfers Open Mercedes Benz Championships With 317

Knoxville, Tenn. --The Furman Lady Paladin golf team fired a first round 317 at the Mercedes Benz Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., Friday afternoon to grab tenth place in the 14 team field. Furman senior Brandi Jackson carded a four over par 76 to lead the Lady Paladins.

Jackson (Belton, S.C.) is tied for 16th, four strokes behind first round leader Ashley Prange of North Carolina. Furman's Tiarna Harman, a sophomore from Greenville, S.C., shot seven over par in round one, while freshman Haley Gildea recorded an eight over par 80 to post the Lady Paladins' third best score.

The Swedish Junior National Team holds the first round lead with a 300. Auburn is in second place after a first-round 303.

The Mercedes Benz Championships continue Saturday morning with second round play and conclude with the final round on Sunday.
