Lady Paladin Golfers Fire 295 in Final Round, Finish Ninth at Franklin Street Trust/Tarheel Invitational

Chapel Hill, N.C. --The Furman Lady Paladin golf team fired a 295 to move from 12th to ninth on the final day of the Franklin Street Trust/Tarheel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., Sunday morning.

Brandi Jackson (Belton, S.C.), after posting scores of 81 and 71 during the first two days of play, shot a final round 69 to finish ninth. The senior finished five strokes over par. Senior Leigh Turner was one of five players tied with Jackson in ninth place. The Alpharetta, Ga., native fired a final-round 75. Duke's Liz Janangelo took individual medalist honors with a three-day score of six under par.

The Blue Devils claimed the team title with an 877, while the Lady Paladins (308-303-295=906) finished the three-day event in a ninth place tie with Florida State. Furman finished four stroke behind eighth place South Carolina.

Furman returns to action October 18-20, at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate in Knoxville, Tenn.
