FURMAN WOMEN SELECTED TO NCAA EAST REGIONAL

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- The NCAA Women’s Golf Committee announced the field for the 2003 NCAA Championships on Monday, and Furman is the recipient of an at-large bid to the NCAA East Regional.

Furman is the 13th seed in the East Region Championship, which will be held May 8-10 at the Salem Glen Country Club in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Demon Deacons of Wake Forest will host the Regional, with the top eight teams and two individuals advancing to the NCAA National Championships, May 20-23, in West Lafayette, Ind.

Though the 24th-ranked Lady Paladins failed to win the 2003 Southern Conference title for the first time in league history, the at-large bid continues Furman’s streak of regional appearances that dates back to the inception of the qualifier in 1993. Furman’s last trip to the NCAA Championship finals was 1999, when the Lady Paladins placed 15th at the Tulsa Country Club, following a second place showing in the East Regional.
