Furman, North Carolina Golfers Lead Lady Paladin Ivitational After First Round

Greenville, S.C. --Furman and North Carolina posted first round scores of 295 Friday to claim the lead after day one of the Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course. The Tarheels' Ashley Prange shot a two under-par 70 to take the individual lead through round one.

Prange who holds a one stroke lead over Carolin Landmann of Tulane, Jenny Gleason of UNC Greensboro and Abby Spector of UNC, recorded five birdies while shooting one under-par 35 on the front and back nine.

Furman's Brandi Jackson (Belton, S.C.) fired a one over-par 73 to tie for seventh while Lady Paladin freshman Haley Gildea, Leigh Turner and Tiarna Harman shot 74 to help pace Furman. After shooting three over-par on the front nine, Jackson rebounded with a one under-par 35 on the back nine.

Second round play begins Saturday morning at 8:30 with Sunday's final round slated for a 9:00a.m. shotgun start.
