FURMAN'S JACKSON, PERRI ADVANCE TO ROUND OF 32 AT U.S. WOMEN'S AM

SCARBOROUGH, N.Y. -- Furman senior Brandi Jackson and 2002 graduate Jennifer Perri each won their round one matches at the U.S. Women's Amateur on Wednesday to advance to the round of 32, slated for Wednesday afternoon. The U.S. Amateur is being contested at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, N.Y.

Jackson defeated Courtney Clark of Del Rey Oaks, Calif., 3 and 1 in Wednesday's early match, while Perri topped Mallory Crosland of Bethesda, Md., 1 up. Jackson will face Danielle Downey of Spencerport, N.Y., in a 2:53 p.m. match on Wednesday. At 3:28 p.m. Perri tees off in a match against Shayma Miyajima of Wailuku, Hawaii.

The third and fourth rounds of match play are scheduled for Thursday with the semifinals set for Friday and the championship match on the slate for Saturday. Beginning on Thursday, the U.S. Women's Amateur will be broadcast on ESPN from 3-5 p.m. for the remaining three days.
