FURMAN TIED FOR SECOND AT LADY TAR HEEL;
JACKSON ONE STROKE OFF LEAD

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina -- The sixth-ranked Furman women's golf team fired a 300 Friday in the first round of the Franklin Trust Lady Tar Heel Invitational, and is tied for second with UNC, seven strokes off Duke's leading pace.

Junior Brandi Jackson (Belton, S.C.) is also second individually, after firing an even-par round of 72. She is one stroke behind the leader, Florida State's Alison Zimmer.

In addition to Jackson's even par round, junior Leigh Turner (Alpharetta, Ga.) is in eighth, three strokes off the lead at 74. Senior Jennifer Perri (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and junior Sarah Johnston (St. Charles, Ill.) are tied for 23rd after carding a first-round 77, while Cimmie Shahan is 75th after an 87.

Round two of the Franklin Trust Lady Tar Heel is slated for Saturday at Finley Golf Course.
