PERRI TIES KING, DANIEL, AND PEPPER FOR SCHOOL RECORD

WITH WIN AT MASON RANDOLPH

NASHVILLE, Tennessee -- Furman golfer Jennifer Perri took medalist honors at the Mason Randolph Championships on Tuesday to earn her fifth collegiate title. The win ties Perri with Betsy King, Beth Daniel, and Dottie Pepper for the school record for tournament victories, placing the senior from Eden Prairie, Minn., in the company of three LPGA standouts.

The Furman women's golf team, meanwhile, carded a third-round 303 to place third overall with an 887 three-round total. The Lady Paladins were beaten by Ohio State and the hosting Commodores of Vanderbilt, but edged Alabama, the fourth place finisher, and North Carolina, which placed fifth.

Perri followed up Monday's rounds of 71-69 with a two-under 70 on Tuesday to finish at six-under on the 6,223-yard, par 72 Ironhorse Course. Perri's other career victories include wins at the 1999 NCAA East Regional, the 2000 Lady Gator Invitational, and the 2000 and 2001 Southern Conference Championships. Perri outpaced her nearest competitor, Nicky Cutler of Vanderbilt, by three strokes and topped the third place finisher by four.

In addition to Perri's final-round 70, Furman counted a 75 by Cimmie Shahan, a 78 by Leigh Turner, and an 80 by Brandi Jackson. Sarah Johnston, who fired 74-72 on Monday, was the non-counter with an 81.

The Lady Paladin fall season continues Sept. 28-30 at the Dodge ACC/SEC shoot-out in Destin, Fla. The shoot-out is hosted by Florida State.
