PERRI NAMED GOLF WORLD PLAYER OF THE WEEK

TRUMBULL, CONN.--With her victory at the Mason Rudolph Championship last week in Tennessee, Furman University senior Jennifer Perri has been selected Golf World's Women College player of the week in its Sept. 28 issue.

Perri, a native of Eden Praire, Minn., closed with a final-round 70 at the Legends Club of Tennessee to finish at six-under 210 for the 54-hole event, defeating Nicki Cutler of Vanderbilt by three shots. The victory--her fifth career title--tied her for the school record for wins in a collegiate career. Perri joins select company in Betsy King and Beth Daniels, a pair of LPGA Hall of Famers, and Dottie Pepper.

For the third year, Golf World will select a men's and women's college player of the week in each issue of the magazine during the college season, beginning in the Sept. 28 issue. Joining Perri on the men's side was Manual Merizalde, a senior at Brigham Young University, who won the individual title at the Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque.
