LADY PALADINS FINISH 11TH AT MERCEDES COLLEGIATE

TURNER MAKES TOP 25

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee -- Furman's Lady Paladin golf team fired a final-round 330 to finish 11th in the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Sunday at Gettysvue Polo, Golf and Country Club.

Furman is playing without senior All-American Jennifer Perri,who is out with tendonitis, but junior Leigh Turner (Alpharetta, Ga.) carded a final-round 78 to finish 23rd overall with a 230 total. She was followed by junior Sarah Johnston (St. Charles, Ill.), who took 42nd with a 237 tally after a final round 82. Brandi Jackson (Belton, S.C.) carded an 84 on Sunday to finish 48th with a 240 score, while Cimmie Shahan (Spring Grove, Pa.) placed 62nd after a final-round 87 pushed her total to 248. Tara Schultz (Wethersfield, Conn.) was the non-counter in the first two rounds, but fired an 86 on Sunday to contribute to Furman's team score. Schultz placed 75th with a three-day score of 264.

The Mercedes Benz Collegiate was won by Purdue, which posted a three-day 902 total. Individual honors went to the Boilermakers' Kari Damron, who posted a three-day 217.
