FURMAN 12TH AFTER FIRST ROUND 316

NASHVILLE, Tennessee -- Furman's Lady Paladin golf team is 12th after carding a first round 316 at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Friday.

The Lady Paladins, playing without senior Jennifer Perri, were led by Leigh Turner's (Alpharetta, Ga.) three-over 75 at the 5,985-yard, par 72 Gettsyvue Polo, Golf, and Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. Turner is 15th individually, eight-strokes off the lead held by Duke's Leigh Anne Hardin, who carded a 67.

Junior Sarah Johnston (St. Charles, Ill.) is 34th after carding a 77, while Brandi Jackson (Belton, S.C.) holds 55th after an 80. Cimmie Shahan (Spring Grove, Pa.) is in 67th with an 84 to her credit and non-counter Tara Schultz is 76th after shooting a 91 on Friday.

The Lady Paladins are 23 strokes off the lead pace of Duke.
