FURMAN WOMEN FIFTH AT LIZ MURPHEY
ATHENS, Georgia -- Furman's Lady Paladin golf team fired a final-round 307 to
finish fifth at the Liz Murphey Intercollegiate with a three-round 909. The
Lady Gators of Florida won the team title with a three-round 879, while Auburn
finished one stroke back at 880.
Furman was led on Sunday by junior Leigh Turner, who carded a 73 to place 23rd
with a 228 total. Brandi Jackson (Belton, S.C.) added a 77 and placed 25th at
229, while Jennifer Perri (Eden Prairie, Minn.) carded a 78 and was Furman's
top finisher in 18th, with a 225 tally. In addition, junior Cimmie Shahan (Spring
Grove, Pa.) fired a 79 and took 72nd with a 243 tally, while Sarah Johnston
(St. Charles, Ill.) was the non-counter on the day with an 82. Johnston fired
a 232 for the tournament and placed 34th individually.
The Lady Paladins will return to action April 5-7, at the Bryan National Collegiate
in Greensboro, N.C.
