PERRI NAMED THIRD TEAM ALL-AMERICA BY NGCA

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furman junior Jennifer Perri (Eden Prairie, Minn.) was named third team All-America by the National Golf Coaches Association, it was announced on May 26th at the NCAA Championships in Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla.

The reigning Southern Conference Player of the Year, Perri competed in 29 rounds this season, posting a 74.8 stroke average with five top 10 finishes. In addition, Perri captured the Southern Conference Championship for the second consecutive year and was ranked 33rd in the final MasterCard Collegiate Division I poll.

Perri is Furman's first NGCA All-American since Jen Hanna took honors in 1998. Perri's award marks the 14th time a Lady Paladin golfer has earned NCGA All-American honors since 1979, when Sherri Turner became Furman's first honoree. There were no All-America awards for women's golf in the mid 1970s, when Betsy King and Beth Daniel played on the Furman team.
