FURMAN GOLF FIFTH AT BRYAN NATIONAL

PERRI IN NINTH

GREENSBORO, North Carolina -- Furman's Lady Paladin golf team is in fifth at the 17-team Bryan National Collegiate, after carding a first-round 305 on Friday. The top-ranked Duke Blue Devils are first after a 289, while Oklahoma State and Wake Forest are tied for second at 294.

Furman was led by junior Jennifer Perri (Eden Prairie, Minn.), who fired a two-over 74 at 6,074-yard, par 72 Bryan Park Champions Golf Course, and is in ninth individually, five strokes off the lead. Teammate Leigh Turner (Alpharetta, Ga.) is in 17th after a first round 76, while Tiarna Harman (Greenville, S.C.) is 26th with a 77 to her credit. Sarah Johnston (St. Charles, Ill.) and Brandi Jackson (Belton, S.C.) are tied for 34th after each shot a first-round 78.

Round two of the Bryan National is slated for Saturday, with the third and final round schedule for Sunday play.
