Furman, Perri Win Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship Team and Individual Titles;
All-Conference Team Announced

BOONE, N.C. -- Furman won its eighth Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday. April 16 at Hound Ears Country Club in Boone, NC. The final round of competition was cancelled due to inclement weather, reverting to a 36-hole tournament based on Tuesday's final results. Furman (620) won by 17-strokes with UNCG (637) finishing second. College of Charleston (652), ETSU (671), Appalachian State (674), Western Carolina (677) and Wofford (679) rounded out the field.

The individual title was won by Furman junior Jennifer Perri, who picked up her second consecutive Southern Conference medalist honors with rounds of 76-73 for a 149 total. Leigh Turner placed third individually with a two-round score of 155, while Brandi Jackson placed fourth at 157, Sarah Johnston took fifth at 159, and Tiarna Harman placed 18th at 169.

The coaches also selected the all-league team as well as the player, freshman and coach of the year. Furman placed three players on the team, led by Player of the Year Jennifer Perri. Perri shot a low round 73 on Tuesday and is ranked among the top 30 golfers in the nation. Brandi Jackson and Leigh Turner also represented the Lady Paladins.

College of Charleston's Sapna Patel was named the Freshman of the Year. Patel finished tied for fifth at the championships, including a low round of 78 on Tuesday. UNC Greensboro's Jenny Gleason and Jessica Fought represented the Spartans. Fought finished the tournament second with Gleason finishing tied for eighth. Appalachian State's Charlene Bradley, who finished 12th, and ETSU's Mimmie Dymling, who finished tied for tenth, were also selected to the all-conference team.

Furman head coach Mic Potter was named the conference Coach of the Year, his seventh at the Lady Paladin helm. Potter led the team to its eighth straight title.
